Pasture Management Services

Sangamon Valley Cattle Co. provides pasture forage and livestock management services by grazing stocker and feeder cattle on existing pasture or rested crop ground in Western Sangamon, Cass, Morgan or Menard counties for owners who may be interested in management assistance, changing tenants or adding a sustainable cattle-on-grass component to their farming operation.

Utilizing rotational and management intensive grazing (MiG) practices to produce high quality beef affords the farm owner an excellent opportunity to improve existing pastures and soil fertility and the ability to reduce future input costs, possibly even restoring bankrupt or marginal soils that have been overgrazed or overworked for years.

Our frequent trips to the farm(s) to move and check on cattle also helps protect your investment against trespass and vandalism. Additional benefits to the landowner may include help in evaluating which government programs are right for you, enhanced wildlife habitat, recreational opportunities, visual aesthetics, improved timber stand values and developing new or existing water resources on the farm.

Depending on the condition of the existing pasture, the improvements available on the farm, and the individual property owner’s needs, we can work to tailor make a multi-year lease or contract to manage the grass (non-crop) resources on your farm.
